Summer Scrap-Off Two - Challenge Two

The rules for this week's challenge will be familiar to those of you who participated last year, but the list of techniques is different. Just in case anyone is concerned there WILL be new challenges, but some of the old ones generated such lovely layouts they're worth repeating! Anyway, this week's challenge is...

Scrap By Numbers Challenge
For this week's challenge, you may create up to THREE layouts. To gain points, you may use any of the following techniques or items:
-rub-ons (not letters)
-stickers (not letters)
-paint
-arrows
-3 or more patterned papers
-hand-written journalling
-buttons
-black and white photos
-8 or more photos
-masking techniques
-photo anchors
-eyelet words
-circles
-frames
-fiber
-sparkle/bling
-bookplates
-tiles
-staples
-shaped brads or eyelets
-stitching
-acrylic accents

Here's the catch. Each of these items has a point value, but that point value is a SURPRISE!! Even I don't know how much each technique or item is worth, because the point values will be determined by rolling a die for each item on the list AT THE END of the week! So until Saturday, you won't know which technique is worth six points, and which is worth only one! What does that mean? Well, as you finish layouts this week, (up to three), send them to me (jkorin@gmail.com) along with a list of the techniques you used - you may use as many as you like on any given layout! I will post your layout and its techniques on the blog. After the deadline (11:59 PM, PST on Tuesday) I'll go back and assign point values to each layout and tally up the points!

Good luck, and happy scrappin!

Summer Scrap-Off Challenge #1

Okay, ladies! We're going to start out nice and simple, with an easy quality challenge.

Since we were schoolkids, summer means VACATION. Create a page with two rules:

One, it should have a picture taken while on vacation.
Two, the word vacation should appear somewhere on the page.

All layouts are due by Tuesday, June 26th at midnight, PST. As I receive them, I will upload them to the blog. On Wednesday, I will open a poll to vote for your favorites, with each player allowed 3 votes (so everyone doesn't just vote for themselves). Points will be assigned as follows:

12th place: 2 points
11th place: 3 points
10th place: 4 points
9th place: 6 points
8th place: 8 points
7th place: 10 points
6th place: 12 points
5th place: 15 points
4th place: 18 points
3rd place: 22 points
2nd place: 26 points
1st place: 35 points

ONE IMPORTANT ADDITIONAL RULE: You should send your layouts DIRECTLY to me, OFF-LIST. Jill and I will know whose layouts are whose, which is why we are on opposite teams. Everyone else should NOT know whether a layout is for a particular team or not.

Good luck!!

Summer Scrap-Off II

Are you READY???

Hot weather got you stuck in the air conditioning?
Kids driving you crazy?
Need some time for yourself?
Does this sound familiar?

You need to join the SUMMER SCRAP-OFF - TWO

Nine weeks of fabulous, fun challenges await you in this exciting, team based scrappin' game. Everyone who chooses to participate will be randomly placed on a team. Each week, a new and exciting challenge will be announced. Some challenges will be based on quality and style. Some will be based on quantity and speed. It will take teamwork and talent to succeed.

And this game really is winner take all - at the end of the game, each member of the losing team will be matched with one of the winners and will send them a prize!

There are a few changes this year, so PLEASE read the following:

All layouts for the challenge must be paper (not digital). Layouts must be at least 6x6. Cards and altered items will only be counted if the challenge specifically allows them. All deadlines will be PST (Pacific Standard Time). Any layouts arriving after the deadline time will not be counted!

The prize last year was a layout created by one of the members of the non-winning team. This became a problem when some people did not finish the game, so this year, the prize will be a scrapping gift of $10-15 value. This should also help on shipping costs, as layouts are more expensive to ship.

Last, but not least, just because SOME of us are bored and at home during the summer, that doesn't mean everyone is! So, challenges will run from Friday to Tuesday instead of Monday to Friday - that way, there's a weekend in there for those who need it!

Sign ups will be taken until Thursday, June 21st at NOON PST. Teams will be announced that evening. The first challenge will be issued on Friday, June 22nd. Each consecutive challenge will last from Friday - Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday will be used for voting (in some cases) and point totalling.

You will send your entries to jkorin@gmail.com. We will be posting the layouts and the challenges on our just a little Scrappin' Fun blog, http://just-a-little-scrappin-fun.blogspot.com/

The winning team will be announced in August. You do not have to participate every week, but the more you participate, the better your team will do!

Are you up for the challenge???
