This first entry is by Lynnise, who got it to me a scant 5 hours after the challenge was posted - was that 2:44 AM your time?? She was obviously inspired, cause it has all these techniques:

stamping
embossing (heat)
doodling
patterned paper mixing
collage
mosaic
tags
chipboard
fabric (gold lame that looks like ribbon is fabric)
monogram
photo corners
sparkle/bling
journalling (under the photo mat)

brads
ribbon
silk flower

Sometimes, she scares me a little.... but what a gorgeous layout!

Scrap By Numbers Challenge (Week Four)

For this week's challenge, you may create up to THREE layouts.

To gain points, you may use any of the following techniques or items (yes, some are deliberately "old" style):

-stitching
-stamping
-embossing
-doodling
-patterned paper mixing
-collage
-mosaic
-colorblocking
-monochromatic layout
- 4 or more photos
-tags
-chipboard
-charms
-fabric
-monograms
-photo corners
-sparkle/bling
-journalling
-eyelets
-brads
-ribbon
-silk flowers

Here's the catch. Each of these items has a point value, but that point value is a SURPRISE!! Even I don't know how much each technique or item is worth, because the point values will be determined by rolling a die for each item on the list AT THE END of the week! So until Saturday, you won't know which technique is worth six points, and which is worth only one!

What does that mean? Well, as you finish layouts this week, (up to three), send them to me or Jill along with a list of the techniques you used - you may use as many as you like on any given layout! We will post your layout, and its techniques on the blog. After the deadline (Midnight, EST on Friday) I'll go back and assign point values to each layout and tally up the points!

Good luck, and happy scrappin!

(Personal PS - I am in charge of VBS for my church. VBS starts next Sunday. I'm going to be CRAZY busy all week, but especially Saturday. So if layouts are slow to upload, or points slow to be tallied next week, you'll know why, and hopefully be forgiving! TIA, Jenn K)

Sketch Scrappin' Challenge Results

Well! We have a LOT of ties here! So bear with me, and I'll take you through how the points break down for this round...

First, the winners:

In seventh place, with 2 votes, Layout #6 - PATSY (10 points)
In sixth place, tied with 3 votes each, Layout #5 - LU (12 points) and Layout #8 - DIANNE (12 points)
In fifth place, with 4 votes, Layout #9 - HOLLY (15 points)
In fourth place, with 5 votes, Layout #2 - ANDREA (18 points)
In third place, tied with 7 votes each, Layout #3 - TAMMY (22 points) and Layout #4 - JILL (22 points)
In second place, with 13 votes, Layout #7 - MELISSA (26 points)

And...

In first place, TIED, with 18 votes each, Layout #10 - LYNNISE (35 points) and Layout #1 - JENN (35 points)

Whew!! I told you it was complicated! Great job, EVERYONE!!

Now, the next question is, how do those points tally up? Well, Team One made a combined total of 102 points. Team Two made a combined total of 105 points. Which means Team Two wins this challenge! Way to scrap! However, that still brings our total to:

Team One: 280 points
Team Two: 254 points

Stay tuned for the next challenge, which will be posted later this afternoon!!

Okay, ladies! The talented ladies of Scrapjazz have been given this blog address and will be voting here:

http://www.scrapjazz.com/community/jazzclub/showthread.php?t=93528

Sketch Scrappin' Challenge (Week Three)

This week's challenge is simple. Use this sketch to create a layout. Then include:

  • three fonts (could be handwriting, stickers, rub-ons, computer fonts, whatever, but you need at least three different fonts!)
  • metal

That's it! As you finish, send your layouts to me, and I will post them anonymously. Here's the voting twist, though. At the end of the week (or when I receive all twelve entries) a poll will be posted on Scrapjazz, asking "complete strangers" to vote for which layouts they like best. We're going to use the honor system here - PLEASE do not ask all your friends and family to log in to Scrapjazz and vote for you! The points will then be assigned as follows:

12th place: 2 points

11th place: 3 points

10th place: 4 points

9th place: 6 points

8th place: 8 points

7th place: 10 points

6th place: 12 points

5th place: 15 points

4th place: 18 points

3rd place: 22 points

2nd place: 26 points

1st place: 35 points

So every layout counts, at least a little, for your team! Have fun!

Scrapathon Results

Team One: 178
Team Two: 149

Way to go, both teams! That's 136 memories scrapped this week, so we're all winners!

Now, who the winners of this contest will be is another question! Look for the new challenge on Sunday. I'll say that it's a quality, not quantity challenge and there's a twist on choosing the winner, but that's all the clues you get! Have a great weekend, everyone!

Points 11:22PM Friday

Okay, we're down to the last 40 minutes.

Here's the points at the moment:

Team One: 174
Team Two: 147

We probably won't get a final point count until morning because some layouts may have been sent to Jill to upload and she's out for the evening. Still, AMAZING job, both teams!!

You all inspired me to make a mini-album I'd been meaning to make for the woman who donated the money for our new church playground. It was a memorial gift in honor of her daughter who passed away very young, so I thought she'd enjoy pictures of the children enjoying her gift. The last page will have the kids' signatures on it. The layout of Scott above is not part of it, lol.

Scrapathon Entries - Special Points

Two ladies spent a LONG time scrapping today, but created items not strictly defined in the rules. So, I'm awarding 2 points to Andrea for the 8 6x6 recipe swap pages she made (since they're all the same, she gets credit for the first) and 4 points to Jill for the star album which is smaller than the requirement but clearly entailed hours of work, and equals roughly 2 pages if each page were a section of a larger layout. KWIM? Anyway, I thought both efforts deserved recognition.

Someone from Team Two:

Friday 2:00 Point Totals

Since we're headed to the deadline and the race is so close, here's an update on points:

Team One: 140
Team Two: 135

Just some interesting trivia:

So far, 8 of 12 people have participated. Those 8 people have created 110 layouts between them in less than one week! WAY TO SCRAP!!

Good luck to both teams!

Point Totals - Friday AM

Well, I have quite a few layouts sitting here to scan, but I'll post points now, and post more layouts later. :-)

The score is now.....

Team 2: 131
Team 1: 120

So, now that Jill has made it the cool thing to do, I'll say:

Keep scrappin'!
